Petal Pusher Farms is a three-acre cut flower farm nestled outside of Washington, Oklahoma. We cultivate just under three acres of annuals and perennial flowers for wholesale, retail outlets including local floral shops, specialty grocery stores, retail stores, weekly farmers’ markets, and our flower CSA. We also create seasonal floral design for wedding and events, using locally sourced flowers and foliage most of which is grown on the farm.
We pride ourselves on being a sustainable, low-impact alternative to the imported flower market. We creatively use infrastructure and succession planting strategies to extend our season and provide the greater OKC metro with high quality flowers for eight months out of the year.
As we prepare for another exciting season, we’re looking for crew members to join our farm team. Our ideal candidates are folks who want to learn about cut flowers and sustainable farming practices and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! We bring the highest-quality flowers to market and expect our team to work with efficiency, focus, and pride. We strive to cultivate a dynamic, often challenging environment in which patience, kindness, and respect are constant goals.
We are an equal opportunity employer interested in cultivating an on-farm culture that includes a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We believe that Black Lives Matter, that LGBTQIA rights are human rights, and that no human is illegal. People of color, women, trans and non-binary persons are encouraged to apply.
Petal Pusher Farms is looking for someone who:
Must be able to lift, bend, and work outside in the elements. You will need rain gear, a sun hat, and proper work attire. You will get dirty and sweaty, but it is rewarding work, spreading the joy of nature one bouquet at a time!
Ideal candidates will have at least 1 season of farming or comparable experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting such as a restaurant server, line cook, or barista.
Students in ag-based/botany programs are encouraged to apply. Those without farm experience should demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and be open to on the job training.
All field crew members are involved in almost all aspects of the farm: planting, cultivating, irrigation, pest and disease control, mowing, hoop house management, washing buckets, and especially harvesting flowers.
Crew members can expect to gain an understanding of all aspects of running a sustainable flower farm. Some days are full of many varied tasks, while others are more monotonous (for example, lots of hand-weeding or harvesting). We have fun, but the task at hand must always take priority.
Harvest will happen every morning throughout the majority of the season. Team members must always maintain an eye towards quality and a desire to work efficiently. After harvest, other field/farm tasks will be accomplished. This position may include post-harvest handling/processing of flowers in the studio.
This is a 30-40 hour per week position. 5 days/week plus rotating weekend chores or farmers’ markets. We are looking for help Monday-Friday during the months of February-April then Tuesday-Saturday May-December. Some staff will go to markets on Saturday starting in May, while others will be at the farm to do the daily chores. Compensation begins at $10/hr.
Valid driver’s license and transportation to and from the farm is required. Applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check.
